This year Learning Disability Week runs from 20th June.
The theme this year is “Stand By Me” which is a campaign to eliminate disability hate crime. It’s appalling that people are bullied, assaulted, and worse just because they have a disability. There have been a number of shocking cases in the news over the last months, and it’s time it ended.

Bromley Mencap and Royal Mencap will jointly be manning a stall on 23rd June between 2 and 6pm outside M&S in the High Street collecting signatures on a petition for the coalition government to do something, and do something now, about disability hate crime. It’s time this issue was taken seriously, and the more signatures we get, the more we show our elected government that we want something done about it NOW!
Bromley Police are working with us on this one, and they’re using our event to launch their new vulnerable adults team that will work with the victims of hate crime.
Show you care – sign our petition on the 23rd.
