Children’s Services

Bromley Mencap provides a wide range of services to support Children and Young People and their families to play a full role in their local communities. Our services provide support for disabled Children and Young People and Young Carers through to the transition into adulthood. Whether it is advice and information, signposting, opportunities for peer support, support with Short Breaks, or leisure activities, our services work with disabled Children and Young People and their families in order to make lives better.

Autism Family Support Service

Free information, advice and signposting for families with a child diagnosed with autism, demonstrating autistic traits or issues with social communication.

Need to know

Monthly drop-ins for peer support or the opportunity to talk to professionals

An online course to discover more about autism and raising an autistic child.

Support with diagnostic assessment and quarterly workshops in partnership with CASPA.


Children’s Wellbeing Service

A series of workshops, aimed at disabled children, young people, and their families. Coach trips provide families with the opportunity to enjoy days out to attractions across south east England.

Need to know

Aimed at helping young people identify their hopes for the future and supporting them to overcome difficulties relating to their impairment.

Explore new ways of improving communication between you and your child both at home and at school.

A free service funded by BBC Children in Need.

Short Breaks

Daytime community support, childminding or buddying support service and evening sitting service for disabled children and young people.

Need to know

Opportunities for disabled children and young people to have enjoyable experiences away from their primary carers.

Providing parents and carers with a valuable break from their caring responsibilities.

Help to improve social inclusion and personal and social development.

Young Carers Service


Support for young people who care for others.  We support Young Carers aged 4 to 19 to manage caring relationships whilst enjoying childhood.  Provided as part of Bromley Well.

Need to know

Opportunities to meet with other young carers.

Have fun, discuss any worries and try out new activities.

Workshops to help develop your practical life skills.
