Job Coaching

Bromley Mencap provides a supported employment service to disabled people who live in the borough of Bromley and have secured employment.

Our Job Coaching Agency provides disabled people with a trained job coach who will support them with any employment matter such as support at interviews, inductions, travel training, performance at work and training.

We also support clients with issues such as disciplinary meetings, performance improvement action plans and managing redundancy.

To receive job coaching support, we assist clients to apply for funding through DWP’s Access to Work scheme.

Access to Work is a grant from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) which helps pay for practical support so that disabled people can do their jobs. Access to Work grants can be applied for by disabled people who are in paid employment. Access to Work can fund the Bromley Mencap job coach on behalf of the client.

To be eligible for Access to Work:

  • You need to have a paid job, or be about to start or return to one.
  • You’ll be offered support based on your needs, which may include a grant to help cover the costs of practical support in the workplace.

An Access to Work grant can pay for:

  • special equipment, adaptations or support worker services to help you do things like answer the phone or go to meetings
  • help getting to and from work

You might not get a grant if you already get certain benefits.

The money does not have to be paid back and will not affect your other benefits.

If you are not eligible for Access to Work funding, please speak to us about alternative ways to fund your support.
