Bromley Mencap provides a supported employment service to disabled people who live in the borough of Bromley and have secured employment.

Bromley Mencap provides a supported employment service to disabled people who live in the borough of Bromley and have secured employment.

This service includes supporting individuals with interview support, company induction programme support, travel training, support at job fairs, and a weekly job club.

Bromley Mencap also monitors and supports individuals in employment with issues such as managing the work environment, timekeeping and attendance, completing daily tasks, understanding rotas and holiday planners, on-line training, work etiquette and relationships at work, and returning to work after a gap. Bromley Mencap also offers employers ‘disability awareness’ training, which has proved invaluable as not all managers have experience in supporting a disabled person within their employment.

By taking the time to coach and educate employers, we have strengthened relationships and diminished disciplinary actions, which may have been the employer’s previous route because of uncertainty of how to manage disabled employees and make reasonable adjustments.
