Bromley Mencap provides a supported employment service for disabled people that live in the borough of Bromley and the surrounding areas who have secured paid employment. We can provide our clients with a trained job coach who will support them with any employment matters such as support at interviews, inductions, travel training, performance at work, and on-line training. We can also support clients with issues such disciplinary meetings, with performance improvement action plans and managing redundancy. To apply for job coaching support, Bromley Mencap will assist our clients to apply through DWP’s Access to Work scheme. Access to Work can fund the Bromley Mencap job coach on behalf of the client.
Access to Work is a grant from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) which helps pay for practical support so that disabled people can do their jobs. Access to Work grants can be applied for by disabled people who are in paid employment.
To be eligible for Access to Work:
You need to have a paid job, or be about to start or return to one.
You’ll be offered support based on your needs, which may include a grant to help cover the costs of practical support in the workplace.
An Access to Work grant can pay for:
- special equipment, adaptations or support worker services to help you do things like answer the phone or go to meetings
- help getting to and from work
You might not get a grant if you already get certain benefits.
The money does not have to be paid back and will not affect your other benefits.
If you are not eligible for Access to Work funding please speak to us about alternative ways to fund your support.
