Bromley Mencap is pleased to announce the appointment of Anna McEwen as its new Chief Executive.
Anna will join the organisation in May and brings a wealth of experience from senior leadership roles across the charity and public sectors.
Anna is currently the Chief Executive of East London Headway, a charity supporting brain injury survivors, their families and carers where Anna has had responsibility for the strategy and performance of services including Community Support, a Day Service and Neurological Therapies.
Before that Anna worked at Shared Lives Plus as an Executive Director and has also worked at both national Mencap and a local Mencap. Additionally, she has been a Social Care Commissioner for Newham Council. Anna is currently a Trustee for Voluntary Organisations Disability Group.
Anna will replace Eddie Lynch MBE who is stepping down in the Spring after 20 years as Chief Executive and will build on his stewardship of the award-winning organisation.
Anna said: “I am delighted to be joining Bromley Mencap as CEO, where the organisation’s values and ethos resonate deeply with my own. I am passionate about empowering disabled people to lead fulfilling lives on their terms, and I’m excited to be returning to my roots having begun my career at a local Mencap. I’m also looking forward to joining the Bromley Well partnership and Bromley Third Sector Enterprise Board of Trustees, furthering our commitment to inclusivity and community support.”

I would like to pay tribute to Eddie for the way in which he has led Bromley Mencap from a relatively small charity to one of the most significant in supporting disabled people, carers and families. His leadership and commitment were recognised in 2016 when he was appointed MBE by HM The Queen. We all wish him a very happy and active retirement.”
