Gift in will
A gift in your Will is a lasting legacy
Bromley Mencap is an award winning, independent charity providing a range of services and support to disabled children, disabled adults, carers, and families.
A gift in your Will is a lasting legacy:
- £2,000 could run an outdoor activity club for disabled people for two years.
- £5,000 could run on monthly workshops for 30 older carers and a monthly peer support group for their disabled mutually caring sons and daughters for one year.
- £10,000 could provide buddying for twenty young disabled people giving respite to families for one year.
- £40,000 could run a training and employment scheme for 20 disabled people and support them into volunteering, work placements and paid jobs for one year.
There are different ways you can leave a gift as a legacy
As a cash gift – this means leaving a fixed amount in your Will. This is a pecuniary legacy.
As a specific gift – this is leaving a named item such as a painting or piece of jewellery to us. This is a specific legacy.
As a share of your estate – after all debts and liabilities (funeral expenses, tax) have been deducted, you can leave the rest of your estate to one or more beneficiaries. You can also leave a share of your estate to a charity this is a residuary gift.
We advise using a solicitor to make your will or change your existing will. All gifts left to charity or exempt from inheritance tax.
