Centre for Community Living campaign
Bromley Mencap needs your help!
Bromley Mencap needs your help to develop a Centre for Community Living for disabled people of all ages, carers and their families in the heart of Bromley. The centre will provide a modern, inclusive and accessible space for our activities, services and office duties to operate from within the community.
The premises for the Centre for Community Living will be created by refurbishing and developing Number 10, a building which we have purchased in Bromley Common, Bromley BR2. The centre will support disabled people and carers in the London Borough of Bromley and surrounding boroughs to realise their full potential post pandemic.
Our wide range of services and activities within our new centre will include:
- short courses and workshops to develop skills for living independently in the community, covering how to use public services, leisure, sport, cooking and horticulture.
- job clubs, employability workshops and educational training sessions
- one-to-one advice and group information sessions to support individuals in their lives, with an emphasis on health, wellbeing, peer support, social care and welfare benefits
- a programme of inclusive, person-centred day activities based around independence, including travel training, wellbeing sessions, developing new lifelong skills and budgeting
- drop-ins, carers skills sessions and training workshops for carers
The refurbishment, development and building extension will cost £1,000,000. Through fundraising, donations and reserves we have secured a total of £800,000 towards these costs.
We are seeking your help to raise the remaining £200,000 to make our vision a reality for local disabled people.
Can you help us transform more lives for the better?
