From Training Centre graduate to 75km cyclist
Alan is a recent graduate of the Bromley Mencap Training Centre, where he successfully completed our two-year programme in July 2026, achieving his OCN London Skills for Vocational Training Certificate.
During his time at the Training Centre, Alan developed his confidence and skills through Enterprise, Barista, Catering and Hospitality activities. Since graduating, he has progressed to Level 1 Front of House Training at London South East Colleges, Orpington Campus, where he is learning valuable skills in the BR6 Restaurant, with transition support from Sarah Barclay.
Alan has also become very involved in life at Bromley Mencap. He regularly takes part in our leisure activities, including discos and other social events, where he has made many friends. He has also given his time as a volunteer, including helping on stalls at our Christmas Fair.
Now, just a few months after graduating, Alan is taking on a new challenge – our 75km Cycle Ride – to raise money for Bromley Mencap and give something back.
Cycling has long been one of Alan’s hobbies. He regularly travelled to the Training Centre by bike, and he has thrown himself into training for the 75km challenge. He is clocking up some impressive distances and Alan has also noticed significant improvements in his health and fitness as a result of all the training.
Alan has already put in a huge amount of training and fundraising, and we’re looking forward to seeing him take on the 75km ride on 1 October.
