Bromley Mencap announces that Chief Executive Officer Anna McEwen will be stepping down in June to take on a new leadership role closer to home.
Since joining the charity, Anna has played a key role in shaping Bromley Mencap’s strategic direction and strengthening the organisation. From supporting the development of an expanded Board of Trustees, to working closely with staff, members, and families to embed co-production and inclusive practice at every level of the organisation’s work, Anna’s leadership has helped lay strong foundations for the future.
Anna said:
“It’s been a real privilege to lead Bromley Mencap over the past year. I’ve been inspired every day by the commitment and passion of the staff, volunteers, and the people we support. I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved together—from developing a bold new co-produced strategy, to strengthening partnerships, securing new funding, and deepening our impact in the community. While I’m moving on to a new role closer to home, I leave knowing that Bromley Mencap is in safe hands and well placed to continue its vital work supporting disabled people.”
To ensure continuity, Deputy CEO Steve Barnes will step into the role of Acting CEO, supported by the Senior Management Team—Caroline and Matt—who will continue to lead the charity collaboratively throughout the transition and recruitment process.
