Grounds4Growth Social Enterprise

Grounds4Growth, our pilot social enterprise, offers real work experience in a community market stall setting in the heart of Bromley. Participants can build skills in customer service, barista-style coffee, selling seasonal plants and promoting refurbished bikes from The Lodge.

Grounds4Growth

Brewing skills. Growing confidence.

Grounds4Growth is Bromley Mencap’s social enterprise pilot, creating real work experience opportunities for disabled people in Bromley.

You can find our community market stall at Bromley High Street Market Square, next to Primark.

The stall is open on Thursdays and Fridays, 10:00am to 4:00pm.

Visitors can enjoy barista-style coffee, buy seasonal plants grown at The Lodge, and find out more about refurbished bikes available to buy from The Lodge.

Grounds4Growth helps participants build skills, confidence and independence through hands-on experience in a supportive, real-world setting. Every purchase helps support pathways into employment.

Learning real work skills

Participants will gain practical experience in areas such as:

  • Making and serving barista-style coffee
  • Caring for plants and supporting retail sales
  • Sharing information about refurbished bikes for sale
  • Customer service and communication
  • Handling transactions and working as part of a team

These experiences help disabled people build confidence and take steps towards future employment.

Building on what already works

Grounds4Growth builds on the vocational training already happening at The Lodge in Norman Park, where Bromley Mencap supports disabled people to develop skills in catering, horticulture and cycle maintenance.

It also links with our Bromley Mencap Training Centre, which supports young disabled people aged 18–25 to build confidence, independence and employability skills through a two-year programme.
