Bromley Mencap’s Training Centre was pleased to host a visit from the Mayor of Bromley on 4th March at their educational premises on Station Road, Bromley North. Learners gave the Mayor a tour of the Training Centre and learning facilities, served refreshments which they had prepared and discussed a range of topics and issues within the local area.
Councillor Mike Botting, the Mayor of Bromley said “it is a great establishment, offering a very necessary service. The centre is friendly and homely, with wonderful learners and staff.”
Mark Murphy, the Training Centre Curriculum & Quality Manager said “The Training Centre provides much-needed learning opportunities to young people with SEN within Bromley. We were very grateful for the Mayor’s visit today so that our learners could proudly present their learning environment and talk about the range of activities we provide.”

Bromley Mencap’s Training Centre offers disabled people, including young people and adults with learning difficulties and disabilities or autism, another choice in their education. The Centre, which opened in September 2023, is known as ‘Independent Specialist Provision’ which provides a range of workshops and courses with the aim of sourcing work placements to support disabled people to develop life skills, employability skills and build confidence. The Centre provides an accredited employability and life skills course for the academic year. The course enables young people to study towards accreditation in employability skills, life skills and a vocational qualification in an area of their choosing. Students can also study and develop their English and Maths skills.
Facilities at the Training Centre include a training kitchen, art workshops, horticultural facilities and raised beds, a computer suite and two classrooms. Our courses are open to young people aged between 16 and 25 with an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
