Be Who You Are in Celebration of World Autism Acceptance Month This April. The world is learning to meet you with understanding and respect.
“Change the environment and you change the outcome,” Professor Luke Beardon
You were never too much, never broken, and never the problem.
Masking may have helped you navigate environments not designed for you, but survival is not the same as living.
In 2026, we continue moving toward a neuro‑affirming world – one that respects autonomy, sensory needs, authentic communication, and the right to exist without apology.
You have the right to:
- Communicate in ways that feel natural
- Support your sensory wellbeing
- Take restorative breaks without guilt
- Express your authentic self
- Unmask at a pace that feels safe
Your neurotype is valid. Your needs are legitimate. Your presence matters.
Over the past year, our Specialist Family Support Team has supported nearly 250 families, equipping them with knowledge, confidence, and practical strategies.
So, from 1–9 April, the team at Bromley Mencap will wear clothing that celebrates individuality as we honour neurodiversity and authentic self‑expression… Photos to follow!
